According to Alphaliner, a Paris-based shipping industry research institution, Pacific International Lines (PIL) and Wan Hai will jointly launch a route connecting China, Southeast Asia to the eastern Mediterranean and the Black Sea region. The maiden voyage will depart on December 16, carried out by PIL's vessel "Kota Perwira" with a capacity of 2,732 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units). Also deployed on this route are PIL's vessel "Kota Kado", Wan Hai's vessels "Wan Hai 311", "Hammonia Teutonica", as well as four other ships. PIL has named this route as the China-Black Sea Route 2 (SB2/BSC). The port rotation is as follows: Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Shekou in Shenzhen, Singapore, Port Klang, Port Said, Alexandria, Istanbul, Odessa, Novorossiysk. However, Novorossiysk will only be called at starting from February. The new route is a supplement to the China-Black Sea Route 1 (BS1). BS1 is jointly operated by Wan Hai, PIL, China Shipping Container Lines, Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha and Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation. Its port calls include Shanghai, Ningbo, Shekou in Shenzhen, Singapore, Port Klang, Damietta, Istanbul, Ilyichevsk. The new route is the fourth Asia-to-Mediterranean route opened in 2010. The previous three are the Western Mediterranean route opened by CSAV in March, the MD3 route opened by the CKYH Alliance in April, and the route from the Eastern Mediterranean to the Adriatic Sea (MAE/AAX/AMC-3) jointly opened by Hyundai Merchant Marine, Hanjin Shipping, Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation and United Arab Shipping Company.
